My secret's out.
It's true. I'm really a 90-year-old man trapped in a 19-year-old body.
Sometimes I feel like writing about things in a non-musical fashion. This is where those things end up.

So there you have it folks. This concludes the 2nd annual Petey Awards. Thank you and drive safe!

Blog War II
Now, don't get me wrong, I didn't mean all people are that way about sports games. The sad truth is a lot of people will rush out to buy a new game just because it has a new number attached to the end, but not all people. I also never meant to imply that all sports games should be changed drastically with every new one. Take the Tony Hawk games for example: They don't change a whole lot from sequel to sequel (except 2 and 3 which pretty much changed the way you play with the manual and revert), but now with T.H.U.G. it seems like it's not even a skateboarding game anymore. I guess I haven't played it yet though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Anyway, the point I was trying to make is that there's a different standard. Some (not all) people will go out and buy Madden, or Live, or what have you every year, but then turn around and complain about games like Max Payne or Resident Evil and how don't change enough.

Hi everyone. My name is Pete, and I love Max Payne 2. People have complained about it because it's not too different from the 1st one (aside from the amazing new physics engine. "Mmm... physicsy"). See the thing is people expect all sequels (except sports games) to either innovate or vastly change what the first had. This is because games don't hardly try to have much of a story, and just build a story around the game instead of the other way around. See, when movies do things like that, bad things happen. So why do games do it? You got me. Max Payne does it as it should be done, game around story, and the results are great. Sure it doesn't do anything thing gameplay wise that rocks any boats, but it sure does story wise. Heck, I think it makes a better movie than most movies do.
Speaking of movies (the segue king strikes again!), the reason I haven't mentioned it yet is because I lack the vocabulary to describe its splendor. Just let me say that it's better than you think it will be, no matter what. Just be sure to let yourself enjoy it even though it's different from the books.

I've got no time for shenanegins! No time!
I've been playing quite a bit of Kingdom Hearts lately, but not as much as I'd like. I'd like to be playing it right now for instance, but I have to go to bed soon. Ya know, for a game directed to kids, it sure seems like you'd have to do a lot of drugs to know what's going on. The same holds true for Max Payne 2 though I guess. Well, not the directed to kids part...
In case anyone was wondering... Yes, I do think "Livin' On A Prayer" by Bon Jovi is the highest song ever, and that's without the key change. I mean really, when they were recording it Jon Bon Jovi must've said something along the lines of "Gee, I don't think this song is inhumanly high enough, maybe we should put a key change in there and make it higher", and then the guy who plays guitar solos with his voice said "Golly, Jon Bon Jovi, I think you're right." Yeah, that must be what happened.

A new power has risen
Looks like Destroyer wants a piece of me in the fabled "Blog Wars". You see, his blog says "Mood: Blah". Thing you you don't see however is that he's got a penguin right before "blah"! What are you saying Destroyer? That penguins are blah?! Well take this! My mood: (pretend like there's an actual picture of Destroyer) blah! Yeah, that's right. Try to recover from that one!

The truth comes out!
Well, it's been a long time coming, but Harry finally admitted he was stupid. He then proceeded to say that he hopes that I never forget he said it. More proof there really is good in this world.

One Less Car.
Well, I have one less car. So let's see... 1 - 1 = 0. I think that's right... But I was never good at math. Oh well, life goes on! I suppose you'd like to hear the story, eh? Ok, you can.
I was driving, and I hit a van. Both cars smashed bad. It was nuts. I'm ok though, and Jason was riding with me and he's ok. I just hope the other driver is ok. Pray for him, I think his name is Joseph. He had hip surgery recently, so they took him to the hospital to make sure it was ok... I really hope he's ok. Anyway, I'm gonna be screwed for money, but really, how big is money compared to The Almighty God? Exactly. Eat it satan. If Job could lose everything and handle it, I think I can handle losing a measly car. It's crazy too, I had a bunch of people praying for me before they even knew I was in an accident! I mean, my mom was across the street at Wendy's, and Roberta Smith drove by as it happened. They didn't even know it was me, but they were praying! Crazy huh?
So yeah, lost a car. Kinda sucks, but not big in the grand scheme of things. I still have my soul, and hopefully I'll have new Bleach tomorrow. Everything will be just fine.

Bleach is good.
They have a new eCard for "Astronomy", and I have to say it freaking rules. Have you seen the album art? Man, it's good. October 21st is going to be a good day for music. We've got "Astronomy" and "Rising Action" all in one day! I couldn't ask for much more than that.

Animal Crackers.
Well today's been one of those days where I listen to lots of music. Let me fill you in. I started things off by finding "Get Ready To Die" by Andrew W.K. It's a pretty humorous song actually. It's got like the happiest chord progression ever, but it's all about killing. I would've bought his first cd if it weren't for the terrible picture on the front. Then I went to mp3.com to find some stuff from his new cd "The Wolf" which is an awesome name for a cd.
On the way I was side-tracked by a song from The Strokes' new cd "Room On Fire" (also rad name). It was a good enough song. It had that nice laid back Strokes feel too it, and also a nice little keyboard part that added a lot. We'll see if their new cd is much different than the first though.
So then I read some reviews of "The Wolf" and I guess the word on the street is it's a little slowed down from his first. I listened to a couple songs and the word on the street seems to be right.
I just listened to The Even Anthem e-card, and they were pretty good I guess, but they sounded like a bunch of other bands.
Now I'm listening to the Mono Vs. Stereo sampler e-card. I'll give you the low down track by track.
1. The Even Anthem - "Good Fight, Good Night": I already told you about these guys. Good song title though.
2. The Uriah Omen - "Maybe The Butler Did It": Hardcore with puke screaming. I don't like it one bit.
3. Andy Zipf - "Running Out": Good times, he sounds kinda like Bono. Sounds good, a little like twothirtyeight (RIP). I really like it.
4. Matt Beckler - "In My Head": This is really kinda spacey, it reminds me of something, but I'm not sure what. It's not too bad though.
5. Boywunder - "Reflections That Pale In Comparison": Terrible Scream-core. I couldn't skip it fast enough.
6 The Back Alley Fights - "The Cellar": Cool band name, kinda nice drive to the song. Nothing too special.
7. Matthew Thiessen & The Earthquakes - "Poison Ivy": Awesome band name. Pretty piano music. I love his song writing.
8. House Of Heroes - "Mercedes Baby": These guys rule, I would've picked up their cd at Sunshine, but I'm poor. Check them out. They're good.
9. Embraced - "Saratoga": More screaming hardcore. Don't care. Skip.
10. Showdown - "Vow Of Silence": See previous review.
11. Wellwater - "On Our Way": Not bad. Reminds me of Anberlin a bit, but not as good.
12. Johnny Come Lately - "Carry On": I kinda like it. That's about all I have to say.
13. The Connotations - "We Are Trouble By The Truckloads": A little on the weird side. I can't understand a word the guy is saying. Kinda catchy though. There's a nice piano breakdown.
14. Marcco - "A Beautiful Life": Nice and laid back. Sounds a little like Luna Halo.
15. Colson - "Lately": More screaming, but mixed with singing. It's not bad. Kinda like Blindside.
That's it. My favorites were Andy Zipf, Matt Thiessen & The Earthquakes, and House Of Heroes.
That's all I got. Later.

Something isn't right here...
I just went to Planet GameCube, but before it let me in, I had to watch an ad for Xbox Platinum Hits. Can anyone else see something wrong with this picture?

I want to live on the run.
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that came out to the show last night and listened to us and said we were good, I really appreciate it. I think we'll be playing again on Oct. 24th or 25th (not sure which it is) at the Stainless CD release party, and you can bet we'll have more songs for your listening pleasure. We're hoping to get a website up pretty soon here too, but for now you'll just have to pretend this is our website.
Shock Town baby.

Jeez, it's about time you dirty beggar!
That's what everyone will say now that I'm posting. It's true, it is about time, thanks. What's new you ask?
I just got Starcraft back, and I suck.
I also suck and Dynasty Warriors 4 and can't beat the Nanman campaign.
I saw a Vox Cambridge (2-10 I think) at the Eckroth's for $300 bucks. It sounded amazing clean, but when I turned the gain up it seemed like it sucked all the presence out of the amp.
I'm poor as dirt.
I was going to buy the Line 6 AM4, but due to the previous sentence, I can't.
I got Rooney for $10 at Wal-Mart. This is something everyone should do. They're like Phantom Planet, heck the singer is even related the drummer from PP.
New Dashboard is really, really good. I hope people don't decide to hate it just because it's different. It's on sale for $12 at Target, you should buy it. I'll (probably) post a review later.
The Midnight Sun Express is opening for Crimson and Stainless at The Light Club at 8:00pm Friday the 5th. Please come. We don't suck, I promise.
Buy games from Rock 30 Games. Why? Because I work there. That and we have some of the better prices around.
Right, well I'm going to go and try to not suck at Starcraft now, so I'll talk to you later.

Ok, why is it whenever something bad happens some someone, they feel that you have to experience it too? "Gross, this smells! Here smell this!" or "Yuck, this tastes terrible! Try it!" WHY SHOULD I?!? It's smells like crap and tastes about the same, why do you insist I try it? How about when something annoys them, and they feel the need to replicate it for you. "I heard this horrible noise that drove me nuts, it was so annoying I wanted to die! It went like this..." Well thanks for sharing that misrable noise with me. Now not only have I heard the noise that was so awful I wanted to die, you've heard it TWICE! I guess you had to suffer again for making me suffer. That makes me feel a little better.

H@X0r3d.
I'm pretty sure my blog has been hacked into, judging by all the crazy stuff that happens to it. The scary man left, but now all of a sudden I have another blog... I don't even know if there's anything I can do about it. Oh well, life goes on.
One thing that I've noticed lately about life is that people say a lot of stuff about doing nice things, or doing the right things, and generally have good intentions. It seems that they say all these things, and maybe even try them, but in the grand scheme of things they suck at actually doing them. They try, and they mean it too, but if it ends up happening that they might actually have to sacrifice something, or maybe take a little hurt themselves to avoid hurting someone else, it turns into something different. When this happens it all of a sudden it gets harder to remember what those right things were, and to see the good behind those intentions. Now doing things the easy way seems like it might be the right thing to do too, whether it actually is or not. They get to the point where they don't care about what will happen down the road, how much they'll hurt themselves, or how they'll hurt others. They're just concerned with the here and now, and that's just fine by them as long as they don't have to put any work into it. Those people are sickening.
By the way, read Air John's ca-razy dream. It does a body good.

I'm done with school.
I know, can you believe it? Anyway, Destroyer, Paul, and myself are having an open house on Sunday the 25th from 3:00 - 5:00 PM CST at First United Methodist Church (924 N. 11th St. Bismarck, ND 58501), and if you're reading this you're invited. I don't know the specifics, but there will be food and it will be free.

"Old" today!
I don't have it yet. It sucks to be me. I guess I'll just have to listen to the e-card another dozen or so times. I can't even believe how cold it is in my basement right now. I can't feel my toes.
Update: I got "Old" at Rainbow for 17 bucks, but I figured if any cd's worth 17 bucks, it'd be this one. I've already listened to it 4 times, but have yet to sit down and put some headphones on and focus on it. Good news is, I can feel my toes. Bad news is, I can't feel my hands.

Dancing is fun.
That is something I never thought I'd say, but look there, I said it. Brandon and Vicky got married yesterday, that rules for them. I think they're in Arizona or something now. Their reception was a blast-and-a-half. I never thought I'd ever enjoy dancing at all, but when German Steve came and threw me on the ground, I figured I'd give it a shot, and I ended up enjoying myself. I should give more things shots, I might enjoy them. Anyway, moving on.
Right now all I want to do is write songs, record something, and play a rock show. I don't know if there are going to be any more Rock Services until next fall. I should find that out. If there aren't I might just have services every Sunday anyway. Whether it's just me, or my rocking fellows, or even if I'm the only one in the building I think I should do it. What do you think? Let me know if you ever talk to me again. Anyway, moving on again.
Something I've come to realize is that girls have a very apocalyptic view on things. Seems like they live every day as if it were their last. I mean every time they part company, there's this massive hug fest! It's like "I'll see you in a few hours! *HUG* Bye! *CRY* The world might end between now and then, so I better hug you again! *HUG*". Ok, now that I've offended half of the human race, I think I'll go to bed.

Leave, Don't Die
Sometimes it's funny how big a deal people make when other people leave. They act like they'll never see each other again. I mean, it's sad and all, but the only reason you'll never see someone again is if they die, or you don't make the effort to see each other again. Good-byes are sad, but not as sad as people make them. I think anyway.

The most amazing thing in the world
Whoever decided to build a big gym and nail corn on the walls is a genius. The Corn Palace blows my mind. Anyway, I'm still in Mitchell... Isn't that cool? I got a hair-cut yesterday. At Wal-Mart. When they say super, they mean it. I also went to a drive in movie last night, which is pretty cool... If you're in the front seat that is, my neck still hurts from trying to see. Ok, I'm going to go to church now. I probably won't have anymore posts from Mitchell after this. Just regular Bismarck posts, sorry.

Ok, this is freakin' awesome.
METAL GEAR SOLID EXPLODES ONTO NINTENDO GAMECUBE
"Konami and Nintendo Collaborate to Deliver Blockbuster Action Title to Nintendo GameCube
REDWOOD CITY, CA. - May 1, 2003 - Continuing to broaden the Nintendo GameCubeTM library, Konami and Nintendo today announced Konami will publish a new Metal Gear adventure exclusive for Nintendo GameCube. Metal Gear Solid The Twin SnakesTM combines the thrilling story of the original Metal Gear Solid game with the jaw-dropping graphics and unparalleled gameplay found in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of LibertyTM. The game is scheduled to ship later this year in North America and Europe, followed by the Japanese launch in early 2004.
Bringing heart-pounding espionage action home to gamers, Metal Gear Solid is one of the most highly-regarded action series ever created. Metal Gear Solid The Twin SnakesTM for Nintendo GameCube will combine stunning next generation graphics and gameplay, an epic storyline and unmatched content designed specifically for mature gamers.
Under the guidance of Konami's Hideo Kojima and Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo's exclusive second-party developer, Silicon Knights, is working with Konami to develop the game. Silicon Knights previously developed last year's award-winning Eternal Darkness: Sanity's RequiemTM for Nintendo GameCube.
"I am tremendously excited to introduce a unique Metal Gear Solid experience to a new audience of gamers as well as collaborate with my mentor in game design, Mr. Miyamoto, on Metal Gear Solid The Twin SnakesTM for Nintendo GameCube," says Hideo Kojima, vice president, Konami Computer Entertainment Japan, Inc.
"Mr. Kojima and I have spoken about this project for some time, and I'm excited our ideas have matched so perfectly," adds Shigeru Miyamoto, senior managing director of Entertainment Analysis and Development Division, Nintendo Co., Ltd. "It's this shared passion for game creation that has allowed us to collaborate to bring a special Metal Gear project exclusively for Nintendo GameCube."
Metal Gear Solid The Twin SnakesTM will be featured at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) on May 14 - 16 in the South Hall at Konami Booth 900 and in the West Hall at Nintendo Booth 2816."
Alright, did you catch that? Hideo Kojima, Shigeru Miyamoto, Konami, AND Silicon Knights! All working on this freaking game. That rules to the point of absurdity.

Shameless plug!
Hey, just so everybody knows, my employer Rock 30 Games just got their website up. If you like used games at better prices than most other stores, you should at least check it out. Oh there's also free shipping on orders over $75, so that's a pretty sweet deal. Anyway, I'm done. I'll put up some more reviews in the not too distant future.

Uhh... Right.
Ok, I'm pretty sure my blog is possesed by some demonic force. I just went to it and all there was was a small picture of a shadow of a guy and a girl in the corner, nothing else. The guy shadow had a camera, and the girl shadow was making a gun with her hands and pointing at the guy shadow. WEIRD.

Pete Yorn has no track # 13 on his cd. He has # 12 and # 14, but no # 13. That strikes me as odd. I think instead of naming his new cd "Day I Forgot", he should have named it "Track I Forgot".

Ok, it's time we have a little talk about a band I like to call The Elmses. Now, keep in mind they're not actually called The Elmses. Their real name is The Elms. Anyway, moving on.
"Truth, Soul, Rock & Roll" by The Elms.
TSRR as it will be called from here on is a CD that Ive been meaning to pick up since it came out last year sometime. I finally grabbed it a few weeks ago on sale at Rainbow. Im very glad I did. It seems like every time I listen to it, I like this CD more. TSRR is the kind of CD you listen to in your car and nod your head with while you use your hands to drum on things. It starts out with Speaking In Tongues (Track #1. duh.), which is also their first single. Good choice in my opinion, as its one of the catchiest songs on the album, and its a good song to show The Elms like to do. Its kind of modern classic rock if you will. You Saved Me (#2) is an anthem that could be interpreted about how God is with us on the Road of life (The chorus says Im not alone on this road, You saved me), but its actually pretty literal. The Elms were in some sort of accident in their van, and they amazingly came out alive, thanks to The Lord. All The While Having Fun (#3) is one of my favorites with a rad riff that goes along with a chorus of Not in rock & roll did I find my soul which at least for myself is a good thing to keep in mind. Another favorite is The First Day (#5), which is has some nice strings and is all about not being ruled by the past, and making every day the first day. The rest of the album sticks with the tried and true catchy rock songs with vintage distortion (which I love,) pretty bridges, big solos, and lyrics that you cant help but sing along with. Except for the Acoustic driven Go Toward The Glow (# 9), and my personal favorite Smile At Life Again (#12) that beautifully closes the album. In closing, I have no complaints with TSRR, there arent any tracks I skip when I listen to it. If I dont make myself sick of it by summer time, it could very well be my CD of summer. If you like feel good rock that puts a smile on your face, do yourself a favor and get TSRR. I cant get enough of this album. 10/10.
By the way, April Fool's Day sucks bad. Don't worry though, you can belive everything you read here.

Hi. This part of the blog is for Maddog. Maddog, you should go to Velvet Blue Music and listen to "I'm Sorry (7-Inch version)" by Fine China. Trust me. "They'd be nothing without Jason" my foot. Oh, also listen to other stuff there because it's cool. Actually, everyone should do that. This part of the blog is for Adam. I'll put my review for The Elmses up next time, sorry I'm taking so long. Ok, this is for anyone who cares. My pants smell like wet dog, I'm going to change them. Good Night.

Whoa, those last two posts from last night were exactly one minute apart. Now, I know you're thinking "What do you mean last night? Your title still says Saturday." Well you see, the clock on my blog is all screwed up, so even though I posted those things on Friday, it thinks I posted them on Saturday. Umm..... Yeah, that or I posted them after midnight on Friday. I'd just like to state for the record that I'm an idiot. Laugh. It's funny. It's good to laugh at yourself. If don't know how to laugh at yourself, you're going to have a rough time of things.

I just wrote a song. In itself that may not be the most amazing thing (it still is for me), but I happened to do it in one hour! Considering it usually takes me a month or two to write one song, that's pretty freaking good. It's called "Long Walk To Your House", and it's self-deprecating humor at it's best. Someday, maybe you'll hear it. Laterz.

CRAP.
I started writing a bunch of stuff here, then I hit backspace and my computer was all like "What? You want to delete that typo? Too bad, I'm going to take you back a page instead." Now I get to start over.
"Love" by The Juliana Theory:
If there's one thing you can't say about The Juliana Theory, it's that all their cds sound the same. Well... I guess it's physically possible for you to say that, but if you did everyone would laugh at you and call you a stupid head. Some bands change to keep up with whats cool, and some bands mature and get better. The latter is obviously the case with Love. If I were to put this cd into some sort of filing system, Id put it in a folder labeled Rock Music That Makes You Feel Tough Just By Listening To It. The track list on this cd is near perfect, with every song flowing nicely into the next. The only song that throws it off is Into The Dark (Track 12) which was from their last cd, and has been re-made for this one. I dont know, it just doesnt go with the rest of the tracks on this cd, al though it is much better than it was before. The cd starts off with Bring It Low which kicks you in the face with a big tough riff and lets you know what youre in for with the rest of the disc. Brett Detar has gotten so much better at singing and songwriting its almost absurd. His vocal range is freaking amazing. TJT isnt really a Christian band, but Detar (Who writes all the songs) is a Christian. The interesting thing is, is that even though TJT is now on a major label (Epic), it seems like theres more of a Christian message than their other cds when they were on Tooth & Nail. A few of these songs hit home with me, like Do You Believe Me (#2), Shell Of A Man (#3) and In Conversation (#11) to name a few. Theyve also got a new drummer, who rulez the drums with an iron fist. Listen to Congratulations (#5) if you want to know what Im talking about. In fact, listen to it anyway because its one of the toughest rock songs ever, and one of my favorite tracks on the disc. There are a few tracks I skip though. Like DTM (#9) because it feels kinda generic, and doesnt seem quite like TJT, and following that Trance (#10) which just kinda rubs me the wrong way I guess. But overall, Love is a great cd and you should all buy if you dont have it already. Especially since its only like 9 bucks at Target.
Well, there you go. A really really really long review. Next time I'll review "Truth, Soul and Rock & Roll" by The Elmses because Adam told me to. I'll also use some kind of rating method because Adam told me to do that too. But don't worry, I wouldn't jump off a bridge if Adam told me to. Unless of course said bridge was over a river of tasty and delicious marshmallows. Until next time, don't foget to rock and roll.
P.S. I got a Standard Tele.

I was just about to change my template, Then I thought to myself "My template's fine." and I didn't change it.
I hate the fact that cars are so expensive. I could buy a car... or a big pile of video games or some guitars. But nooooo, not everything in the world is within walking distance! Stupid world. Stupid cars. Stupid money.
My nose is running because I have a chronic cold, I need some kleenex. I'll be right back.
I'm back. Sans runny nose.
I was lying in bed this morning (30 minutes ago) thinking thoughts, and all of a sudden WHAM! and it gets darker. I've been wondering what that was since I got up (30 minutes ago), and I think someone must've tried to shoot out the sun. Fortunatly they failed.
Highschool spring break sucks.
Remember when I said I'd talk about more cds and stuff? I don't feel like it right now. I think I'm just going to give up setting goals, because I never feel like doing them. I guess I'd rather just stare at nothing on the computer for hours on end than do anything useful.
Somebody's running around upstairs. Kia's running around upstairs.
Pop's on sale for $1.87 at Dans Supermarket.
Ick. I've got a cold.
I should take a shower instead of typing completely random thoughts.
Ok, I will.
Good.

Hi my name it MATT!
That's what I always say to Lenny, whom some know as Matt. Don't ask me why, it's something I like to do, it's something I find nice.
I've been buying cd's like a freaking maniac. All of them good. I think I'll start talking about them on here so that I actually have something to post about once in awhile. Today I will be speaking of the new Relient K cd that came out yesterday. I do this because I just listened to it and it's quite fresh in my mind. Anyway, here it is.
Relient K "Two Lefts Don't Make A Right... But Three Do."
Unless you can't read, you can tell that they're still funny. Anyway, like I said before, you could listen to their whole cd on their site before it came out. That's kind of a double edged sword, because you can listen, and get excited for the cd, but then the cd comes and there's nothing new. Oh well, it's good either way. They're definetly getting better at playing music. There's less straight fast punk songs (only one or two that I can think of off hand), and a bit more rock. There's pretty obvious Jimmy Eat World influences on the cd, which is pretty sweet. Trademark (Track #7) starts out like it could be Bleed American 2. Falling Out (#3) also reminds me of Jimmy for no reason. Matt Thiessen seems to have tried a couple new singing tecniques on I Am Understood (#10) and From End To End (#14), which is pretty cool. If you don't know, I'm not the biggest fan of punk, but even the few mostly punk songs on here I dont mind. Mainly because Matt T. is such a witty song writer, and they actually have lots of talent unlike alot of punk bands. It also has the funniest secret song I've heard in a while. When they do have a serious song (which it seems like they have a few more than usual on this one), it shows how good they really are when the want to be. My favorite song right now is probably I Am Understood. That's another thing, Relient K usually has songs that are just what I need to hear at that moment in my life. Anyway, Two Lefts Don't Make A Right... But Three Do. is a way better cd than I expected, and you should buy it (It's only $14 at Rainbow) and laugh and enjoy it.
There you go call it a "review" if you want, I don't care. I'll probably talk about "Love" by The Juliana Theory next time. Maybe you've heard of it. I also may or may not post more song titles and some serious tidbit. So stay tuned!

No more title tracks
This is my plea to bands everywhere, don't ever record another title track. Ever. I'm serious. There's a very heavy burden that title tracks have to carry around with them. Simply because they're title tracks, you expect it to be at least one of the best songs on the cd. Unfortunatly, this is rarely the case, sometimes they even turn out to be the WORST track off the cd! What could be more disapointing than that? This has been on my mind for sometime now, but the new Switchfoot cd made me go into action. So all bands, please, do us a favor and never make a title track again. Thank you. More news at eleven.

I always tell myself "Pistol, you should really update your blog on a weekly basis." I'm obviously doing that very well. Psych! Hee hee, remember psych? What a good time!
Let's talk about video games for a moment shall we? Ok, great! I purchased NHL Hitz 2003 recently from Rock 30, and boy is it a good time! That's... All I can really think of to say. It's fun.
I also picked up Kessen 2 and Devil May Cry 2 the other day. People in general don't seem to like DMC2 very much. I haven't played through the whole thing yet, but I have no major qualms with it. I'll let you know if I finish it and have major qualms by then. Kessen 2 is more fun than I remember, aside from the freaking level I'm stuck on.
Music news... You can go to Relient K's site to enjoy all of their new cd, which I might add is pretty darn sweet.
Tuesday will be the start of the relentless assault of great cds coming out for the next two months. It all starts with "Love" by The Juliana Theory. Pick it up at Target for 6 (!) bucks,
Speaking of Target I'll officially be done there on Feb. 10th. I'll then move on to become a inventory control specialist at Rock 30 Games.
Ok, I'm done now. I liked Crystal Pepsi.

I'm so very sorry
I always feel bad when I don't update this, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who cares anyway, so no big deal. Let's see... What did I say I'd put in here again? Ok I remember know. Get ready.
Fine China "You Make Me Hate Music"
That would be my pick for cd of the year. Runner up is:
Coldplay "A Rush Of Blood To The Head" & 238 "You Should Be Living"
That's right, a tie. Anyway, more about Fine China. "You Make Me Hate Music" was almost the only cd I listened to all summer, and I never got sick of it. Upon further thought, I really think it's my favorite cd... EVAR!!!11 Sorry. Well, that's all you're going to get for now, I wouldn't want to steal any thunder from that amazing announcement. Bye.
P.S. New Switchfoot rocks harder than you ever knew, and I'm not just saying that.

Ahh, the new year... The time when everyone makes silly unrealistic goals that they know they'll screw up by Febuary. You won't find me doing such things, no sir. Instead I'm going to set a more realistic goal. That goal is to see The Two Towers (Yes, it's TWO, not TWIN) again. This way, when everyone is moaning about how they didn't do their resolution, I can laugh and enjoy my supremacy.
Speaking of The Two Towers (I am the segue king!), I've enjoyed it 3 times since it came out, and it of course rules. If you're reading this right now you owe it to yourself to go and see it as soon as you can. I don't care if you've seen it already, go anyway. It would be stupid not to. Unless you haven't seen the first one yet, in which case you absolutely should NOT see Two Towers yet. I forbid it.
Actually, I do have a resolution other than seeing the movie, but it's not because it's a new year, it's more of a good thing to do in general. If you've ever talked to me, you probably know that I'm not a big fan of multiple standards. Meaning that I whine about it all the time. Anyway, I complain about it all the time, and I'm sure I'm guilty of it just as much as the next guy (whoever that is). So what I'm getting at here is, there's no reason I should treat someone differently because of how they treat me, is there? Didn't think so. So if you catch me doing so, slap me around or something. Seriously. I won't hesitate to do the same to you. Well, maybe I won't slap you, but a stern talking to isn't out of the question.
Oh, by the way, I made a "hall" on Christmas. I'll give you the low-down another time. Maybe. I will be back with my choice for compact disc of the year in a few weeks though.

Music is good.
The other day I spent some quality time checking out some Tooth & Nail bands the other day, let me give you the low down.
Me Without You
The song I downloaded started out promising, then turned into generic hardcore. Too bad.
Mae
I didn't really know what to expect when I downloaded the (unfortunatly) only song they had up, but let me tell you, it freaking rules.Their cd "Destination: Beautiful" Comes out febuary 25th, and will be one of the many, many compact discs I'll be buying that come out in Feb. and March. The song is very pretty, it kinda has an airy sound to it, which is something I enjoy alot.
Poor Old Lu
They've been around awhile, but I've never really listened to them. It's not too bad I must say, but I haven't made up my mind about his voice. It's definetly rock though.
Slow Coming Day
They're sort of emo rock I guess. Not bad by any means, they just didn't stick out to me much.
Watashi Wa
The only song they have up is a rough mix of a song right now, but it's not bad. It's sorta poppy, and it also has a touch of 80's. Not punk like I expected. I kinda like it.
Bon Voyage
Now wait, before you stop and say "Pistol! That's a girl pop band! What were you thinking?!?", let me say two words: Jason Martin. If you didn't know (which I didn't until I read a review on Decapolis), Bon Voyage is: Jason Martin, Julie Martin and Travis Zimmerman (I have no idea). Ronnie Martin also provides some synthes I hear. Anyway, since Jason does all the guitars (and writes the lyrics too I think), it sounds like Starflyer, only more poppy, due to Julie's vocals. I'm going to just say right now, that I enjoy it very much. Girl singer or not. She actually goes really well with Jason's guitars. Good stuff.
There you have it, although bands say they suck to be on, Tooth & Nail has some sweet bands.

I was thinking the other day (Yes, it's that time of year), and it occured to me I haven't talked about video games lately (Almost a whole month!), so now, I will.
Super Monkey Ball 2
I grabbed this one a few weeks back when it was on sale. To sum things up, it's twice as good as the original. It's got twice the mini-games, and the old ones are even better than before! Some people don't seem to enjoy the single player mode, (which by the way has one of the most bizzare stories ever) but I like it way better than the first game.
Rating - Fun
No One Lives Forever 2 Demo
I've only played the demo of this one, but I think it's probably the best single player first person shooter since System Shock 2. It's got a really good AI system where enemies act more like real people would, say for instance someone spots you, but you run away and take a left at a fork in the road. The enemy didn't see whether you took a left or right, so instead of magically know where you are, they stop at the fork and get confused. There are a bunch of fun weapons, with everything to swords, to guns, to exploding cats! Not only is this game fun, it's got a great sense of humor too! Alot of times if guards run into eachother in the hall, they'll start talking, and hilarity ensues. Anyway, this game is fun, and I'd like to buy it.
Mmm... I just took a break to enjoy food.
Rating - Tasty
As I was eating I was also watching The Screen Savers on TechTv. I enjoy that show. It almost doesn't seem like a show, because the people on it are having fun, and sometimes things don't go as planned, and hilarity ensues. It's Good.
Phantasy Star Online
This one came out a couple weeks ago, and I wasn't too terribly excited about at first. Don't ask me why, I just wasn't. Then I played it at Tan-Tan's. The next day I played it again. For eight hours. The day after that, I bought it. I enjoy it immensly, there's nothing better than building up characters and getting stuffs.
Rating - Absurdly addicting fun
That's all you get for now, I need more blogging resources for later.

Well, the ground is now enjoying a nice layer of snow. This is something that really makes me happy. I'm not really sure why, I can't really think of any fond memories that have to do with snow that stand out to me in any way. No more than any other seasons anyway. None the less, I love the snow and the winter time. Now, some of you might be thinking "Golly, what an idiot!", and that's ok I guess. Just look on the bright side, at least you won't have to listen to me complain about it all the time.
I discovered an amazing tool just now, it's called the "Enter" key, and seems to work well for seperating paragraphs. I think I'll start using it once in awhile.
I picked up UT 2003 the other day for 30 bucks. I wish Target would lose my games more often. Anyway, I haven't been able to play it much, because I allowed myself to be taken over by Warcraft 3. I did try and play with actual people earlier, but gave up due to the fact my ping was 999. It sure looks pretty though. So does the snow.
My mom is making applecrisp now, which compliments the snow nicely, now all I need is a fireplace, and... other things.
Here are more song titles for the purpose of making this longer:
No Stars Tonight
Sorrow In The Air
It Hurts All Over
Your Painting For Me
Deep Blue Morning
Why Would You Want To?
Home Is Where The Heart Breaks
(I Am) Plan B
Can't Hold It Against You
Sick Again
The Best I Deserve
Nothing Is Better Than I Hoped
I Don't Mind At All
By All Accounts Things Should Be Fine
The Time That Makes Me Happy
Sparkle St.
Can you imagine if all those were actual songs, and not just names? I could release four or five cds! That would be pretty cool... Unless they all sucked, which probably wouldn't be very cool.
Also, could anyone who reads this take a moment and pray for me every now and then? I'm having a dickens of a time trying to figure out what to do when I'm done with school, among other things. I'd like to just play music and video games, but then I would have no way of supporting either habit... Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read me. Don't forget to "Read the words I didn't write!" Wow, that was kinda stupid.

Bitter rant ahead
Ok, David Bloom is a freaking idiot. To quote Tycho: "The video in question refers to "investigators" who are looking into a possible gaming connection, and I'm wondering if these guys have ever investigated anything before, or if this is like the first thing they have investigated. Maybe they took a break from investigating and they're just kind of getting into the swing of it again, because a death tarot card that says he's God on it has no sensible correlation to videogames. I'll grant that games have firearms in them, though. But unless you're trying to kill people on your computer, they aren't much good for anything. You have to wonder if it's even worth debating an issue like this with people who don't know if something is real or not." That seems to sum it up pretty well. Personally, I think this guy has been watching too many infomercials. You know, the ones with all the "psychics", and their tarot cards. That has to be it. Moronic.

I got my bass wednesday. I like it, gun metal blue is a pretty rad color, and the pearloid pickguard suits it nicely. Oh, and it sounds good too. Dang it, somebody I don't know just logged into messenger, and for some reason whenever that happens, my computer decides to make a high pitched whine that make me want to die. I wish nobody would ever log in again, that would fix my problem. I wish I had a capo. Well, I guess I do have a capo, it's just sitting in Minneapolis. Too bad for me. We practiced for rock service today, that was a good time that would've been better with a drummer. It'll be better sunday. I would appreciate it if everyone who reads this (I'm talking as though people I don't know read this business) would come to 924 N 11th St for the Rock Service at 7:00 pm sunday the 13th of October. Thank you. I've been working on a new song that nobody will probably ever get to hear... The thing that seperates this one from the rest of my songs is that it doesn't suck. Dang it! Somebody logged on again. I wish they'd stop that. Well, looks like I'm done typing random unrelated thoughts, have a nice night.

Well, the verdict is in. Shepherd is one of the best bands ever, and I stand by my beliefs that Ronnie Martin rules all. Stop by his site and enjoy the mp3. In other news, my bass didn't come today, because my payment was declined in the first place... You'd think if Musician's Friend could handle sending me 3 emails telling me about how my order worked out fine, they could've manged to let me in on that little tidbit. Oh well, it'll be here on thursday or friday when I'm at work I'm sure. I'm enjoying a good dose of Denison Witmer right now, do yourself a favor and listen to his songs, then buy his cds, and go to his shows. That way he'll get popular, and I'll be able to find tabs for songs other than Stations. See, everybody wins there. My list of songs has doubled since last time, if you thought the other ones were sad, watch out for this batch.

Yeah, when you spend all your time sitting around the house doing nothing, it's hard to avoid getting emo'd out. I've been trying to write more songs lately, but I don't seem to be getting any better at playing guitar, or writing songs for that matter, so that sucks. I am getting better at playing bass I think though, so that's good. *Serious messege ahead* I've been thinking lately (and talking to my peeps) about holding things against people. What advantage does it bring? No advantage, that's what. All it really does is keep you from the person, and from The Lord as well. The only reason not to fix things is because you're a coward really. Of course, this is all easier than done, but thankfully it's possible. So good luck (Me). *End serious messege* On a brighter note, I enjoyed a pile of boneless buffalo wings, which were some of the spiciest things ever, and I when you combine that with 3 tall Shirly Temples, that makes for an unpleasant feeling. Ok, so I guess it wasn't that much brighter, but the wings were awesome. Ok, I'm going to go to bed now, because I'm freaking tired. G'night.

This excites me to the point of giddyness.
"Update on Ronnie Martin's side band "Shepherd".
The hotly anticipated debut album for Ronnie's new side project, Shepherd, which was recorded last February, has been passed over by Tooth and Nail Records, who originally intended to release it this year. The album, which was recorded and mixed by indie rock mainstay Chris Colbert and also featured Frank Lenz on drums, has been put into limbo at this point in time. The finished record, which was produced by Ronnie, who also played all the guitars and basslines, represented a radical departure from the pure synthesizer sound of Joy Electric. Considered by Ronnie as some of the "best songs he has ever written", the album features painfully stripped down production with very minimal guitar lines to go with the beautiful and melancholy songwriting. Decisions are being made as to where to go with the project at this time. A self release is a possible option. Stay tuned for more information."

These are the words of Conrad. They are the truth. "You wanna hear a terrible name for a song? 'Sk8er Boi'." Now that that's taken care of, I'd like to share something with you. Often times when I am working, I will hear someone say something over the walkie-talkie about a "Tanner". When this happens I think to myself "Who is Tanner?", and I contemplate this for a few moments with a puzzled expresion on my face until I realize that it's my buddy Maddog! Then I smile, knowing that I have a buddy named Maddog, even though people sometimes get confused and call him "Tanner".

The return of rock.
That's what I experienced last night, and let me tell you, it was glorius! Rising Action and Love are having a heated battle right now for my most anticipated cd of the year, and it's close, but Rising Action is getting a bit of a lead after last night. It's sunday, and here I am, getting all emo'd (made-up word courtesy of me) out again. You'd think I'd learn. Oh well, maybe I'll just go to Wal-Mart now.

Go and read Adam's blog for some encouragement. It was for me anyway. It IS kinda hard to be serious reading something out of a tuxedo though... I think it's good to be serious sometimes... Not all the time, not even most of the time for that matter, but every now and then it's a good thing, otherwise you lose touch. Anyway, I got the new Blindside cd today, and I like it way better than I thought I would. There's not very much screaming, and when there is, it's not usually too bad, and the lyrics are great. It also got me thinking... I think that for me personally, I should listen to a bit more christian music. Now, I'm not saying that secular music is bad at all. The thing with alot of secular music is, it's depressing. Christian music can be depressing too, but there's always a messege of hope too. I just know that for me, I really absorb music, so if I listen to alot of Dashboard or something, I get bummed out, and we all know the hilarity that ensues when I get bummed out. When I listen to things like Fine China, or Blindside (The only christian cds I've gotten lately), they usually make me think and stuff, as opposed to just bumming me out. Anyway, that's something that I have to do, I don't know if you do or not, but it could help, who knows. Ok, there's my dose of seriousness, have a nice day.

I was just eating some Butterfinger BB's, and I wasn't really enjoying them. Sitting here eating them I was thinking to myself "These sure are crunchy, they're almost crunchy to the point of not being good. They hurt my teeth", but then I got to the last 3, and when I ate one, it was all soft and wonderful. Then I had another, and it was even better! I then thought to myself "I really shouldn't take my chances eating that last one, I know I'll be disapointed because there's no way any Butterfinger BB could be as good as that last one". What did I do you ask? I ate it like the idiot I am, and it sucked. Bad.

It's a good thing I'm a christian, otherwise I'd probably be questioning the exsistence of good in the universe right now... There is no reason in the whole world that Eminem should've beat The White Stripes for video of the year in the MTV awards. Actually, if I wasn't a christian, I'd probably like Eminem. No, now that I think about it, I didn't like him then either.

"What's new on The Pistol front?"
That's what people ask me (When I say people I of course mean nobody). I respond to them by saying things like "I really enjoy Howie Day, I got his compact disc for the low low price of 8 bucks!", I also might respond by saying "I'm saving my money to buy a new bass, since I won't be able to play the church's bass for much longer". They then reply by saying "How are you going to buy a bass when you're spending all you money on Howie Day and Coldplay? I respond to that question by punching them in the face.

One thing people (I) should learn is that things don't always work out just the way you'd like, even if it seems like it would be wrong for them not to work out that way. When things like this happen, people (I) always have to blame something or someone, even if there's nothing to blame. That's another thing, there isn't always something to blame, sometimes things just don't work. Also, sometimes the blame is your own, and this is what people (I) accept the least. I'm not trying to sound smart, this was just something I was thinking about.

I enjoy things that are cheap, like half price appetizers, and free pop. On that note, Jordan Culver is the best server in the whole wide world.
I might go to a festival in SD next weekend, that is if I can get someone to switch saturday with me... Pray that I can, otherwise there's gonna be trouble.
Maddog is playing guitar a few feet away from me, and Air John has a small mountain of change. Air John just did something with the phone, and I yelled at him like I was really mad, when in reality, I wasn't. It was funny.
I finished writing "You're Already Gone (And I Miss You)" which you may recognize from a few blogs back. The musical part isn't too bad, the stuff Maddog does is good, but unfortunately lyricly, it sucks. Oh well, maybe I'll ge better at writing songs, maybe not. Who cares, it's something to do. If I ever make a decent song, I'll record it and throw it on here for fun.

Hey, I just remembered something that rules... I got Dave Mirra 2 for my Gamecube at Target (where I am currently employed by the way) for the low low price of $14.30, good times I tell ya, good times.
Sometimes I listen to too much emo, and get all sad, especially on sundays, when I don't have anything to do, and I'm bored and tired. Hilarity then insues, as I mope about the house feeling sorry for myself and running into door frames because I don't have the heart to avoid them, and the I get so bored that there's nothing else to do but sleep, and when I wake up I feel like the whole world went by me while I was asleep and I get upset. I'm weird like that, but it's pretty funny to think about.
I really like to play Max Payne. It's a very enjoyable game.
I got Aliens vs. Predetor 2 for the low low price of $10 at Target too, that was a few days ago though.
I've been going to work on writing "You're Already Gone (And I Miss You)", with the aid of Maddog. I might change the name to something like "I Shouldn't Be Concerned With You" though, either that, or I'll just make a songs for each title.
Oh, I almost forgot!
Song Formula:
1. Think of cool title.
2. Apply meaning to title
3. Apply chords to meaning.
4. Apply (crappy) words to chords.
5. Apply rock to chords.
That's how I write songs. Try it sometime.
I hope you liked my completly random thoughts. It's fun to write them down, try it sometime.

The following qoute is one of the funniest things I have ever read in my entire life, get ready. Ok, here it comes. "If a 30-second piece of media can make an individual want to tear his eyes out with a rusty melon scooper, there must be something fundamentally wrong with it." There. You can thank Maddog for that one.

Mmm... Brains...
There was a "study" recently that said that video games turn kids in to mindless zombies, well here's a response by a gamer/developer who's obviously anything but a mindless zombie. Read it, it's good for you.

Studio Diaries Rule.
Let me tell you, whoever first sat down and said "You know, it might be fun to make a journal about recording our new cd, and talk about other stuff we like too." is a genius. The Juliana Theory diary is quite the enjoyable read. It rules to read about how they're going about recording the different songs, and what kind of music they like, and how bored they are. I've also been enjoying Ronnie Martin's journal. Ronnie seems to be a really smart and interesting kinda guy, and I think we could all benefit from reading his thoughts.
